ACIDIFICATION

DEFINITION:When the oceans obsorb CO2 and the oceans become acidic

What is happening to the oceans?

• As the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rises, the oceans absorb a lot of it. In the ocean carbon dioxide reacts with seawater to form carbonic acid. This causes the acidity of seawater to increase.

What does this do to shellfish?

• When carbon dioxide dissolves in water, it becomes an acid. That acid can be lethal to baby oysters, preventing them from forming shells Eudeline said. And it's not just oysters at risk lobsters crabs clams and coral reefs are feeling the effects of ocean acidification too.

HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACIDIFICATION OF OUR OCEANS?

• Climate change creates carban dioxide and that makes the oceans suck up the CO2 in the air witch causes the acidity of the seawater to increase.

• Trees provide them shelter from the weather and from enemies. Trees provide food in the form of fruits, nuts, leaves, bark, and roots. Even dead trees provide shelter and food for many insects.You also use them to make furniture and paper

HOW DOES DEFORESTATION AFFECT THE CLIMATE?

It keeps carbon dioxide in the air and carbon helps climate change

DEFINITION: ICE CAP Melting

If all the ice melted what would happen?

All the fish would probably die and we would haver no fish left

HOW DOES ICE CAP MELT AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE?

The primary cause of this phenomenon is ice-albedo feedback, whereby melting iceuncovers darker land or ocean beneath, which then absorbs more sunlight, causing more heating.
